Qin Ruan stood up and put on her shoes, walking towards the guest room's bathroom.

She furrowed her brows, looking gloomy and emitting an unpleasant aura.

The anxiety in her heart made her unable to control herself; she felt inexplicably frustrated.

"Ruan Jie Jie, are you awake?"

Qiao Jiu's clear voice came from outside the door.

Qin Ruan had just finished washing up and was walking out of the bathroom when she heard Qiao Jiu's voice.

She replied lazily, "I'm awake."

Her footsteps, which were originally headed towards the bed, faltered slightly and turned towards the direction of the door.

Qin Ruan opened the door and saw Qiao Jiu, who was neatly dressed and leaning against the door, clearly visible in her eyes.

After seeing Qin Ruan, Qiao Jiu's eyes brightened slightly. "Ruan Jie Jie, I'm going to go with Master to our sect to take care of some business."

Qin Ruan knew that Qiao Nanyuan was returning to Maoshan Sect because of Mu Qing, Su Zijia's brother and sister's matter.

"Is it for your Taishi Uncle's matter?" Qin Ruan asked.

Qiao Jiu's eyes darkened slightly, and the smile on his face disappeared. "Yeah, I estimate it will take about half a month to go back and forth." Her tone was tinged with reluctance.

"Then I wish you a safe journey," Qin Ruan said casually as she wiped her hair.

Qiao Jiu's smile reappeared. "Ruan Jie Jie, when I come back, you have to take me on a mission! Master and Uncle Lu talked about what happened last night, but unfortunately, I couldn't see you control the ghost with my own eyes. It's all Master's fault; he wouldn't let me go. I hate it so much."

"If there's a chance, I'll take you," Qin Ruan said as she finished drying her hair. She put the towel on the cabinet by the door and picked up her backpack, lifting her foot and leaving the guest room.

"It's getting late, and I should leave too," Qin Ruan finally noticed that Qiao Jiu sensed her mood was off.

She seemed calm, but her impatience was clearly visible in her eyebrows and eyes.

"Are you unhappy?" 

Following behind Qin Ruan, Qiao Jiu asked kindly, "I made breakfast. Would you like to have some?"

"No thanks, I don't have an appetite today. I'll enjoy it when you come back," Qin Ruan replied.

Qin Ruan didn't want to vent her bad mood on Qiao Jiubaba. She suppressed her nameless anger and turned around to smile at him. "Okay then."

Downstairs, Qiao Nanyuan was still packing his bags.

Qin Ruan went downstairs and didn't see Lu Wenbin's figure. "Did Uncle Lu leave?"

"He left. He had just gone for half an hour when the criminal investigation bureau came to Yuxing Pai. They're probably here about the recent string of homicides in the past month," Qiao Nanyuan replied while packing.

Qin Ruan nodded to indicate that she understood. She picked up her backpack and looked at the time on her phone. "Uncle Qiao, has Huo Zhi woken up yet?"

"She went out early and didn't even eat when I asked her," Qiao Nanyuan complained a little about Huo Zhi.

Since they met last night, that girl had not said a word with a cold and frosty expression on her face. When she came downstairs this morning, her killing intent was so strong that it almost frightened his disciple.

However, Qiao Nanyuan did not mention any of this to Qin Ruan.

Qin Ruan probably guessed where Huo Zhi was. She knew that the latter knew that she had not left and would not just leave like that.

"Uncle Qiao, sorry for disturbing you last night. I'll leave now," Qin Ruan said.

Qiao Nanyuan finally stopped what he was doing and furrowed his brows as he looked at her. "You're not having breakfast?"

"No, thank you. Maybe next time." Qin Ruan nodded to Qiao Nanyuan and left.

"Xiao Jiu, go see her off," Qiao Nanyuan instructed Qiao Jiubaba.

"Okay, got it!"
