Chapter 93: What is Like, What is Love
Returning to the capital city, Ling Xiaoxuan's fear still lingered in her heart, but being in a familiar place reduced some of her anxiety.
She was moved by Qin Ruan's concern for her.
Although their relationship was not very deep, Ling Xiaoxuan remembered everything that Qin Ruan did for her.
It was beyond the depth of their relationship.
To put it more deeply, Qin Ruan saved her life twice.
If it weren't for Qin Ruan, Ling Xiaoxuan couldn't imagine whether she would still be alive after the attack of the Shan Yao and the trip to the Qishan Mountains.
Ling Xiaoxuan smiled lightly, and a serious and solemn expression appeared on her face. "Qin Ruan, thank you so much. If you need anything in the future, just let me know. Even if it means going through fire and water, I will do my best."
Qin Ruan's attitude was the same as before. "You're welcome."
"Please take care and rest more when you return to the dormitory. Your complexion doesn't look too good."
"I know, see you later!"
Qin Ruan waved to her and walked towards the campus until her figure disappeared into the crowd of students, blending in with them. Several Hummers outside the school slowly drove away.
Qin Ruan didn't sleep all night yesterday, and on the way back to the capital, she accompanied Ling Xiaoxuan and talked to her to help her relax.
She hadn't rested well for two days and one night, so her complexion naturally didn't look good.
The first thing she did when she returned to the dormitory was to search for instant food in the storage cabinet to fill her stomach.
After regaining her strength, she walked into the bathroom with a change of clothes.
For the next half day, Qin Ruan didn't even think about going to class. She spent it in the comfortable and soft bed in the dormitory.
She slept until half-past eight in the evening, missing the school's dinner time.
She still had to wait for several hours until the school's supper.
Qin Ruan rubbed her tired eyes and got up to wash her face and change clothes. Half an hour later, she stood outside the gate of Shengshi University and hailed a taxi.
The driver, a local with a standard Beijing accent, asked, "Where to, miss?"
Qin Ruan smiled faintly and replied, "Take me to sky Bridge."
The driver's smile froze on his face as he turned to look at Qin Ruan with a complicated expression. "Miss, where are you going at this late hour?" he asked, the implication of his words clear.
Not sure what to make of his tone, Qin Ruan's smile faded and her expression changed to one of melancholy and sensitivity, as if deeply wounded by love. "I heard that place can give direction to lost souls," she said in a low voice, clearly with a story to tell.
"Hey, don't go there!" the driver's tone became more serious. "This is a civilized society, we have to believe in science. Those under the Sky Bridge are all fraudsters. Miss, you're a student at Shengshi University, how can you still believe in those things?"
"I just want to seek some comfort," Qin Ruan held back a smile and her beautiful eyes curved into a crescent shape. "Please drive on, sir."
Feeling sorry for Qin Ruan, the driver started the car and headed towards sky Bridge in the East District. After some thought, he couldn't bear to see someone go astray and tentatively asked, "Miss, did you just go through a breakup?"
Qin Ruan saw the driver's conflicted expression through the rearview mirror. Instead of answering directly, she asked, "How did you figure that out?"
Thinking he had hit the mark, the driver spoke smugly, "Well, just look at your despondent appearance. You're at an age where you spend all day mired in love woes. Kids these days don't understand what true love is, mistaking infatuation for love and excitement for passion. They don't know the ins and outs of everyday life."
