Chapter 2: Watch Out, Master, it's a Trap

Chapter 2: Watch Out, Master, it's a Trap

Just as his fingertips were about to touch the ground, a cold touch grabbed his hand first.

The speed was as swift as a ghost, unimaginable for someone on the brink of death.

Fu Juncheng's silent eyes showed a hint of ripples, and his indifferent expression revealed no emotions.

Yun Zheng widened his eyes, "Master..."

She, she actually grabbed his Master's hand?

His master was being taken advantage of?

The young girl struggled to lift her head, and a gentle light illuminated her clear eyebrows and eyes. Her pupils were bright, captivating.

Their gazes met, and Fu Juncheng's thin lips parted, "Let go."

His calm tone surprised Yun Zheng.

When did his Master become so easy-going?

With his cleanliness, shouldn't he have just pushed her away?

Gu Qingning gaze drifted absentmindedly to the hand she was holding, murmuring softly.

"Warm..."

A faint voice, indistinct and muddled. Fu Juncheng involuntarily lowered his head.

"Your hand, so warm..."

Since her birth, she had existed as a lingering soul, drifting in the darkness for a whole eighteen years, without seeing the light of day.

Now, she had finally returned to her own body and could feel warmth for the first time.

Fu Juncheng's warm palm, like a ray of winter sunshine, pulled her out of the cold abyss. She truly felt her soul return, experiencing the genuine sensation of being back in the mortal world.

She was a living person now, no longer a wisp of lost soul.

It felt wonderful!

Enamored by the warmth in his palm, Gu Qingning tightly held onto his hand.

For a moment, she regained consciousness, but exhaustion rushed over her like an overwhelming mountain, and her body went limp as she fell back into unconsciousness.

Yun Zheng snapped out of his shock and urgently reminded, "Master, be careful, it might be a trap."

In a big forest, there are all kinds of birds, and this person appeared at the manor for no reason. Caution was necessary.

Fu Juncheng withdrew his hand, his gaze shifting to the girl's dirty and disheveled face, and the image of those clear and bright ink pupils flashed through his mind.

He stood up and said, "Bring her back."

Boredom had persisted for too long, and it was rare to come across someone interesting.

Yun Zheng nodded, ready to grab the person by the back of her collar and carry them away.

"Wait."

Yun Zheng's outstretched hand froze, and he looked at Fu Juncheng with a puzzled expression.

"No need."

With a sentence that made no sense, Yun Zheng was left bewildered.

He exclaimed, and in his perplexed gaze, Fu Juncheng slowly bent down.

Extending his long arm, he horizontally lifted the unconscious person from the ground.

Fu Juncheng lowered his gaze at the person in his arms, a faint smirk appearing at the corner of his lips.

It may be gentle, but it's a bit menacing.

Yun Zheng's face revealed shock, as if a thunderbolt had struck him.

Was he hallucinating?

His Master was actually carrying someone, and she is a woman?

He shook his head vigorously, convinced that he must be mistaken.

"What are you dawdling for? Keep up," came the cool voice. Yun Zheng belatedly snapped out of his daze, looked up, and saw that Fu Juncheng had already walked far ahead.

"Master, wait for me!" He hurriedly chased after him, his steps stumbling.

...

Night fell.

The moon's hazy light shrouded a towering manor nestled among the lush greenery.

A cold breeze swept in through the window, filling the room with silence.

The figure curled up on the bed stirred, and long lashes trembled slightly.

Gu Qingning opened her eyes, feeling the unfamiliar surroundings. A trace of confusion flickered in her eyes.

Momentarily lost, she quickly climbed out of the bed and headed straight for the bathroom.

After a brief hesitation, her gaze settled on the mirror on the washstand, and she hurried over.

When she saw her reflection in the mirror, she froze in place.

Her gaze traveled inch by inch over the person in the mirror—disheveled hair, covered in dirt and bruises, and splattered with red paint.

She looked utterly miserable.

Fortunately, only a small amount of paint had splashed onto her face, so it wasn't too severe.

She turned on the faucet and lowered her head to wash her face.

The dirt and dust on her face were cleansed away, revealing her true appearance.

Her skin was luminously fair, her eyebrows like ink paintings, and her clear, calm eyes exuded a hint of indifference and a touch of absent-mindedness.

Her crimson lips curved slightly, showcasing a playful and charming demeanor with every smile and frown.

Gazing at the familiar face in the mirror, a slight smirk appeared at the corner of her lips.

"Hehe."

Her laughter was chilly, tinged with a sense of satisfaction and delight. "I can finally be human again."

It wasn't a dream after all. She had truly returned to her own body, and her fragmented soul was finally complete.

From the moment of her birth, she had existed as a fragmented soul, following her original self.

However, this state of being persisted until she was eight years old. In her youthful naivety and boredom, she wandered away from her original self and roamed around aimlessly for a whole decade.

Originally, she had gone out for a walk in the rain, but unexpectedly, she was struck by a thunderbolt.

It was precisely because of this incident that she was able to return to her own body.

If she had known that being struck by lightning would allow her fragmented soul to return to her body, she would have eagerly awaited lightning strikes every day.

Before she could fully revel in her joy, excruciating pain invaded her head.

It came swiftly, without any warning.

Gu Qingning raised her hand to cover her head as fragmented memories flashed through her mind, gradually becoming clear.

As the pain subsided, she lifted her head, and a touch of coldness stained her pale and delicate features.

So, the soulless her had become a pitiful little lamb that anyone could bully. How ironic...

The end of this chapter.
